An Important Lesson from the TMP Leadership Exchange

I’ve just returned from spending two days with 25 of the top Travel Business Owners and Supplier Partners, during the two-day TMPLE conference in Cancun, Mexico.

There were no speeches, big announcements, or panel discussions – the typical sessions featured in every travel conference – ever!

The only “formal” session was a leadership workshop. I hosted a 90- minute session entitled, Let Go and Let Lead. Participants were able to reflect on their own achievement style so they could play to their strengths, and identify blind spots when leading their teams.

The rest of the time was entirely committed to one-on-one meetings between the owners and the suppliers.

While it may sound obvious, it was a classic example of how less is more.

The rave reviews from the participants to be given quality time to build important relationships was priceless.

“To be in a room of some of the top travel agency owners and connecting with top partners, was the best way to spend my last two days.”

-Susan Owner, Expedia Cruises Owner

I reflect on the hundreds of events I have hosted over the years where I thought “more is more”. I often boasted of “an action-packed agenda.” In reflecting, I realize how valuable simple can be.

The irony was not lost on me. Sometimes I need to “let go, and let lead.”

Well done Travel Market Report for hosting this inaugural event, and to the fabulous leaders who did what leaders do best – building business, together!

PS What are you currently doing, over doing, or overthinking. Could less be more for you too?

The Book Shelf – Books I Love to Inspire Your Journey

I admit I get excited when I find a book that boosts sales. I am always hunting for insights that can help travel advisors grow. $100M LEADS by Alex Hormozi is packed with tips on how to improve your success with long term sales strategies.

The book is packed with actionable tips, particularly on maintaining consistency in your content marketing strategy. One of my favourite takeaways is: “Consistency beats intensity every time.” Hormozi also champions the idea that advisors need to build their own pipeline: “great leads aren’t found they are created.”

While there’s a significant focus on converting online leads, and I’ll admit the tagline (“How to get strangers to want to buy your stuff”) nearly put me off—it’s easy to skip through the subtle “get rich quick” vibe given the abundance of sales gems inside.

For travel business owners, this book offers valuable insights and practical strategies to grow your sales and elevate your business. It’s well worth the read (or listen).
